Outline (Better late than never?)

I. Introduction
   A. What if you had to get up everyday poop in a plastic bag and take it to one of your few water supplies and dump it there?
   B. Slums are densely overpopulated areas littered with trash and poverty.
   C. The existence of slums negatively affect the population living there with high pollution levels, crime rates, and a lack of government.
   D. Leads into causes of why slums affect human populations living in them.

II. Defendable point 1
   A. Firstly, pollution is a main problem in slums because of disease spread and poisoning people.
   B. "[Slums are] giant cesspools. Waste leaches into the water people drink and contaminates the food they eat. [Slum water] carries typhoid and other diseases that can be deadly.
   C. Overpopulation and a lack of enough space for everyone is a main factor in the pollution levels, and some people tend to put their needs above everyone else's.

III.  Defendable Point 2
   A. Evidently, as people realize that they live in horrible places, they decide to do something about it for themselves. This leads to crime spreading quickly.
   B.
C.The people in power can easily take advantage of the poor conditions of others and take what they want and hurt whoever doesn't see eye to eye with them.
   D. The crime rate is high enough but the government still decides to stay out of it and not help with security or other things.

IV. Defendable Point 3
   A. Last of all, the government neglects slums and their people who are in need.
   B. "The slums are like self-contained cities, operating with little official recognition or assistance."
   C. The slums are not assisted, but ignored, by the government which leads to limited medical supplies and the slums aren't able to be found on maps.
   D. This information points out how people living in slums are affected negatively.

V. Conclusion
   A. This evidence shows undeniable proof that slums are negatively affecting people living in them.
   B. They are affecting people because of high pollution levels, crime rates, and no government assistance.
   C. The pollution levels in these slums lead to the spread of disease, and the high crime rate endangers many people living in these slums who the government will just ignore in turn.
  D. If this situation is not taken under control slums will only grow larger and larger.
